This Monday, June 20, the Jackson County Board of Commissioners will meet at 6:00 p.m. to discuss a firearm discharge ordinance.
The NRA has not yet seen this proposal and is attempting to obtain a copy, but the Commerce News Today quoted Commissioner Tom Crow as expressing concern over the fact that the proposed discharge ban language affects, “...not only a subdivision, but any residential home in the county, whether that home is located on a half acre or 50 acres. ” To read this article, please click here.
Any ordinance that would impose a broad categorical ban on firearm discharge even where it could be safely and prudently conducted is obviously cause for concern. We urge you to attend this meeting and tell the Board of Commissioners that you OPPOSE the banning of firearm discharge on suitable tracts of private property.
This meeting will be held in the Jury Assembly Room at the Jackson County Courthouse located at 5000 Jackson Parkway in Jefferson.
Please make plans to attend this important meeting. If you are unable to attend please call AND e-mail the Board of Commissioners TODAY.
