Texas Legislative Alert - Support HB 1837 6/12/01

Tuesday, June 12, 2001

The 2001 session of the Texas Legislature is over, but we need your help just one more time!

Governor Rick Perry`s office is receiving calls, generated by gun control advocates, in opposition to HB 1837, the NRA-backed shooting range protection bill by Rep. Mary Denny (R-Aubrey) & Sen. Ken Armbrister (D-Victoria). This bill protects shooting facilities built after 1991, and those located in counties with no ordinance making-power, from nuisance lawsuits based on noise filed by people who build, acquire or develop property near an existing range.

The Governor could use some calls of support from gun owners who use Texas` valuable and safe shooting range facilities for recreational shooting, safety training and hunter sight-in days, and who want to see these facilities stay open and operational. He has until June 17th to take final action on this bill and other measures on his desk. Please contact him TODAY and tell him you support HB 1837!

You can email Governor Perry through his website at www.governor.state.tx.us.
