Louisiana Legislative Alert

By a vote of 27-9, the Louisiana Senate defeated SB 425 (by Sen. Jon Johnson - New Orleans) which would have made gun owners criminally liable if a juvenile gained access to their handgun and caused it to discharge or used it to harm another -- even if that juvenile accessed the handgun by theft, trespass, or other unlawful means. If passed into law, this bill could have caused gun owners to lose their homeowners insurance if an accident involving a juvenile occurred in their home.

The following Senators listed below voted against SB 425 and stood with responsible gun owners. We must remember to recognize these elected officials and let them know that we don`t take their votes for granted. Please send a quick email of thanks to your Senator for opposing SB 425 if he or she is on this list.
